Draft Kelly

In 2016, Haligonians will go to the polls to elect a mayor and council. We’d like to see Peter Kelly’s name on the ballot for mayor.

If you agree, please help by showing Peter Kelly that he still has strong support across the region. DraftKelly.ca is dedicated to convincing Halifax’s longest serving mayor to return to Halifax and put his name on the ballot. But we can’t do it without you.

During a radio interview in April, Peter Kelly told News 95.7’s Rick Howe that he’s thinking seriously about running for the mayor of Halifax in 2016.

Kelly went on to say that he had been hearing from residents asking him to return to the city’s top job.

“I have not made any decisions. I am thinking about it,” Kelly said.

Kelly, the current CAO for Westlock County in Alberta, was in Halifax over the Easter weekend in April to continue his longstanding tradition of serving fish and chips on Good Friday at John’s Lunch in Woodside.

Hopefully this campaign builds momentum. Savage has done little to benefit the people of this city, in his time in office. The most he’s done is spend taxpayer money on things we don’t need, like new logos and ‘loans’ for Irving. Kelly really slipped in his personal life. But, honestly… who cares?! He did his job right!

Says who? He had a good run, but there was enough bad judgement in a number of well documented professional areas that pissed off a lot of people and called into credibility his reputation. This was not a witch hunt - he did it himself. Time for new blood. Perhaps there’s another line of work he can pursue.

Savage is business driven and it was obvious right from the start of his campaign that big was in his pockets. Big business filled them with $325,000. 00 from which he took a salary of $10,000.00/mo. while other contenders had to give up salaries as high as $8,000.00 to run. He has been catering to big business ever since he was elected by chasing after a stadium and other big ticket items. He just put icing on the cake by giving Irving a big tax deal by cutting their taxes by $1,000,000.00 per year for the next twenty five years while raising residential taxes over 3%. Jock Savage has got to go.

I agree but not by putting peter kelly back in.

No, I am not saying it has to be Kelly, but if there was anyone that can beat Savage he is the only one at the moment, in my opinion, that can beat Savage. Sure, Kelly made some mistakes but I think he has a better feel for the needs of the people and is not for big business like Savage is. We need someone that is not business oriented more in tune with the needs of the people.
